RAG organises a yearly conference on a theme relevant to religious archives. This is held in a different location every year and speakers include archivists, librarians, academics, users of archives and representatives of faith organisations.

We’re delighted to be hosted by the John Rylands Library for this year’s conference, which is due to take place on 11 November 2026 and is on the subject of:

‘Unearthing the unexpected in religious archives’

From artefacts that have ended up in surprising places to topics you might not expect to find lurking in religious archives, our theme this year is ‘the unexpected.’  Our speakers, Professor Sasha Handley, Tim Procter, Professor Michael Questier, Dr Naomi Baker and Neil Sayer, will cover subjects ranging from poltergeists to royal love letters!
