In line with our charitable objectives, the RAG committee is resolved to use the Group’s funds to help advance the care and accessibility of religious archives and to promote wider knowledge and understanding of them. To this end, we have established a small grants scheme which is open to RAG members.
Our Small Grants Scheme is currently closed to applications for 2025. We will update this page when it re-opens to new applications, so please do check back. We will also make an announcement on our mailing list.
Applicants must be UK institutions which subscribe to RAG’s JISCMAIL Listserv mailing list (the current criterion for RAG membership).
Grants will be made for one-off sums to support the following activities:
•small, discrete cataloguing projects, or the production of other finding aids
•online publication of catalogues and finding aids
•the provision of reading room equipment (such as book supports, weights and other items to improve handling and care of collections when in use)
•the provision of archival quality storage materials, equipment or furnishings (such as enclosures, boxes, plan chests) for material of particular significance
•the provision of collection care equipment (such as environmental monitoring equipment, pest monitoring equipment)
•conservation work
The RAG small grants scheme will award grants of up to £250.
The total available for grants is £800 per annum, expected to be spread across 3-4 awards.
Applicants should complete the form below, providing a brief outline of the project or work proposed, its anticipated impact, and a costing. Applications should be submitted by email to the Chair.
Grants will be awarded at the RAG committee’s discretion and applications may be initially assessed by a sub-committee acting on its behalf.
